Biography:

Born in Tel Aviv, Israel, Yoel Rubin is a twenty-one year old cellist, and is currently a first year undergraduate student at the Royal College of music in the class of Professor Alexander Chaushian, and baroque cello in the class of Professor Sarah McMahon. Yoel is supported by several foundations and is a recipient of a number of grants from the Kathleen Trust and the Albert Cooper Charitable trust, Yoel was also awarded The Victor and Lillian Hochhauser scholarship from the Royal College of Music.


During the years 2024-2025 Yoel has performed both solo repertoire and orchestral projects with several ensembles, in different venues in London, including a recital at the Cobbe Collection, concerts with the the St James Chamber Orchestra as a principal/co-principal cellist, Firebird Orchestra and principal cellist with the Opera De Bauge orchestra in the 2025 summer festival in France.


Yoel Rubin worked as a cellist in the Israel Chamber Orchestra during the two seasons of 2022-2024 and was the youngest member to have been offered a place at the orchestra. He also traveled with the orchestra to participate in the ‘Musika Musica’ chamber music festival in Bilbao, Spain.


Yoel began his cello studies at the age of six in an art school and graduated from an arts high school majoring in classical music. During that time he studied in the class of Professor Shmuel Magen, where he graduated from the Givatayim conservatory. Yoel participated in several programmes of the Jerusalem Music Center that include the Young Israel Philharmonic, David Goldman chamber music programme and the Huberman masterclass programme. Yoel participated in masterclasses and summer courses with internationally renowned professors that include Marc Coppey, Gustav Rivinius, Jerome Pernoo, Hans Jorgen Jensen, Pieter Wispelwei and others.
