Biography:

Lu Liu is a pianist currently entering her second year Masters at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she studies with Professor Alexandra Dariescu.

Originally studying German Language and Literature at Fudan University in Shanghai, Liu graduated with top honours and received several prestigious academic awards, including the National Scholarship, the highest level of scholarship in China. Alongside her academic studies, she actively performed and led various music events as the president of the Fudan Piano Association, where she also taught fellow students and organised workshops and concerts.

Liu’s musical activity spans a wide range of contexts. As part of her studies at Guildhall, she has achieved distinction in all of her performance assessments in her first year. In addition to solo work, she is regularly involved in chamber music, song accompaniment, and contemporary music workshops. She has also had the privilege of receiving coaching and masterclasses from musicians such as Martin Roscoe, Noriko Ogawa, Charles Owen, Laura Roberts, Caroline Palmer and Lei Weng.

Liu has performed at venues such as Shanghai Oriental Art Centre, Shanghai Steinway Centre, Shanghai Bechstein Centre and Milton Court in London, and has participated in festivals and received top awards at competitions including the Hongkong-Asia Piano Open Competition, the Shenzhen Piano Open Competition and the Magnolia Shanghai International Music Festival.

While completing her undergraduate studies at Fudan University, Liu also studied at the University of Göttingen in Germany on an exchange programme, further broadening her cultural and academic perspectives. Her repertoire ranges from classical to contemporary, with an ongoing interest in both solo and collaborative performance.
