Biography
Taiwanese pianist Yu-Chieh Lin has won top prizes in International competitions, including the 9th International Competition of Slavic Music in Moscow, 5th international Wanda Landowska Harpsichord Competition in Italy, Laureate of the Moscow Scriabin Scholar Competition 2016, Third prize at the 7th Riga International Piano Competition. So far he participated in various WFIMC piano competitions, including the 67th (2022) and 68th (2023) editions of Maria Canals Competition in Barcelona, Spain. 65th Jaén Piano Competition in Spain (2024). 22nd edition Las Rozas de Madrid (2022) and the 73rd edition of Viotti Piano competition in Italy (2023). Birmingham International Piano Competition 2024 Semifinalist. He recently won the 2nd prize at the Bromsgrove International Musicians Competition 2023 in the UK.
At the age of 10, he decided to pursue a career as a professional musician, moving to Russia to study at the Gnessin Special School of Music in Moscow with Mikhail Khokhlov from 2009-2017.
Since the age of 12 he has regularly perform in countries including Spain, Germany, Austria, Poland, Latvia, Italy, UK, Taiwan and Russia.
He has performed in concert venues such as The Palau de la Música Catalana Barcelona, Rachmaninoff Hall of The Moscow Conservatory, Mozarteum Solitar Hall Salzburg, Milton Court Concert Hall London, Teatro Civico in Vercelli (Italy) and so on.
Yu-Chieh has performed with orchestras including the Academy of Ancient Music (UK), Royal Tunbridge Wells Symphony Orchestra (UK), RCM Symphony Orchestra (UK), Gnessin School Symphony Orchestra (Russia).
He has also collaborated with conductors such as Mikhail Khokhlov, Neil Thomson, Leo Duarte, Michael Rosewell, Jac van Steen and Natalia Luis- Bassa.
He received crucial inspiration from studying with world’s leading pianists such as Norma Fisher, Ronan O’Hora, Noriko Ogawa, Charles Owen, Mikhail Khokhlov and Sofya Gulyak.
Also played for international renowned artists in masterclasses such as Dmitri Alexeev, Michel Beroff, Alexander Romanovsky, Vanessa Latarche, Dina Parakhina, Gabriel Kwok and Kyoko Hashimoto.
He obtained the Bachelor of Music degree at the Royal College of Music London in 2021 under the guidance of Norma Fisher. Yu-Chieh recently finished his Master degree with distinction at Guildhall School of Music and Drama London in 2023, he is currently pursing the Artist Diploma course studying with professor Ronan O’Hora, Noriko Ogawa and Charles Owen.
