Biography

South Korean violinist Mee-Hyun Esther Park performs extensively throughout the UK and abroad. Esther strives to offer her unique interpretations into contemporary works on the concert platform, while maintaining affection for the classical music repertoire.


Notable achievements include winning the 2024 International Artists Competition’s 4th Edition, Joint 1st Prize of the 2024 North London Festival D’Addario String Prize Competition, the 2022 Royal College of Music Violin and String Quartet Competitions, performing with Maxim Vengerov and the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall and performing Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time at Wigmore Hall. Esther has performed in venues as the Bridgewater Hall, Elgar Room of the Royal Albert Hall, Korean Cultural Centre London as a soloist and had guidance from artists including Leonidas Kavakos, Alina Ibragimova, Gyorgy Pauk and Marianne Piketty.


An avid chamber musician, Esther has collaborated with musicians such as Lawrence Power, Dina Duisen and Robert Cohen. She is a member of the Brompton Quartet, winners of the 2019 St-Martin-in-the-Fields Chamber Music Competition and Making Music Artist. As a quartet, they have appeared on BBC Radio 3 ‘In Tune’, and performed in venues such as Wigmore Hall, Conway Hall and Purcell Room of the Southbank Centre. Esther also plays frequently with the Philharmonia Orchestra and the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra.


Esther studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School from the age of 10 and then the Royal College of Music for her Undergraduate and Postgraduate degrees supported by full scholarships from the UK Government’s Music and Dance Scheme. Her previous teachers include Simon Fischer, Boris Kucharsky and Itzhak Rashkovsky. Esther was also appointed assistant of Boris Kucharsky at the Menuhin School from 2020-2023.


Currently pursuing an Artist Diploma degree at the RCM with Professor Radu Blidar, Esther is an Orpheus Scholar supported by the Knights of the Round Table Award and is an awardee of the Help Musicians Postgraduate Award 2023 and 2024. Esther is also grateful for the support of the Nicholas Boas Charitable Trust and Talent Unlimited.
