About Kaja Piano Trio
Since meeting at the Royal College of Music in London as students, violinist Kaja Sešek, cellist Clare Juan and pianist Zala Kravos decided to unite their sounds and formed a trio in 2023. During their time together, they have already shown great unity and conviction with their interpretations. Recently the trio performed at Wigmore Hall as part of the Intercollegiate Cavatina Competition where they won 2nd prize and the Audience Prize.
Kaja Sešek is a Slovenian violinist and recently finished her Master of Performance degree at the Royal College of Music, London, where she is studied with Detlef Hahn. She is an ongoing member of Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester since 2022 and has performed as a soloist with RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra and the Slovene Military Orchestra, among
others.
Clare Juan is an Australian cellist, currently pursuing her Master of Performance degree at the Royal College of Music, London, studying with Gemma Rosefield. Clare is The Sir Peter M and Lady Walters Scholar supported by the Pauline Hartley Award and a recipient of the TAIT Performing Arts Association. Clare plays on a cello made by William Forster Junior in 1804, commissioned by George IV and previously owned by His Majesty King Charles III, on loan to her by the Royal College of Music, London.
Zala Kravos, born in Slovenia in 2002, started playing the piano at the age of five and has studied at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel with Maria João Pires and Louis Lortie, at the Conservatory of the City of Luxembourg with Jean Müller and at the Royal College of Music in London with Norma Fisher.
The Kaja Piano Trio is coached by the UK’s leading chamber musicians such as Laia Braun (Marmen Quartet), Gemma Rosefield (Leonore Piano Trio and Ensemble 360), Richard Lester (Gould Piano Trio) as well as Gaby Lester and Norma Fischer.
