Biography:
Samantha is a professional flautist and soprano who grew up on a Cornish family-run dairy farm, before moving to London in 2019. She has since graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with a First-Class Honours, and is about to finish her Masters Degree at the Royal College of Music.As a soprano Samantha has performed oratorio, staged opera scenes, and solo repertoire extensively in London and the South West, and overseas in Italy, France and Holland. She is currently a Choral Scholar at St. Cuthberts Church, Earls Court, and notable solo performances include the UK premiere of Dan Forrest’s Creation with the South West Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus, and performing as soloist in Birmingham Symphony Hall. Aside from her classical spheres, Samantha is the enthusiastic lead singer of the up-and-coming function band ‘Good Vibes’, and she takes a keen interest in musical theatre and jazz vocals.Orchestrally, Samantha has appeared with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Scarborough Spa Orchestra and Endellion Festival Orchestra, and is regularly playing with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra as part of her training at the RCM. Samantha enjoys delivering solo and chamber recitals around the UK, including a performance at the annual ‘music and AI conference’ with Rowland Sutherland, and concerto in April 2024 with the Plymouth Symphony Orchestra. Competition successes include Liverpool Flute Academy‘s Orchestral Artistry Award (first place) and the Eastbourne Symphony Orchestra’s Young Soloist Competition (second place). Samantha is passionate about delivering outreach in schools and care homes, and she is also an enthusiastic music teacher and charity concert organiser. This year Samantha is grateful to be supported in her studies by the Charlotte Fraser Foundation, and she is a Douglas and Hilda Simmonds Scholar.
